Specially educated to assess and improve movement and function, a physiotherapist can help relieve your pain by assessing your physical condition, and then working with you to develop a goal-directed strategy for change. Physiotherapy assessment and treatment is available in a clinic, home or work setting.
Acupuncture treatment is available through our Registered Physiotherapists and is offered as part of physiotherapy treatment. Body, auricular (ear), scalp and dry needling techniques are available. Acupuncture is helpful for a variety of conditions.
One hour yoga classes are now offered on Saturday mornings at the clinic. These yoga sessions will concentrate on muscle movement, body awareness, proprioception, stretching and muscle awareness. These classes are lead by Tina Gokstorp and are quickly filled up. The classes are small (under 8 participants) so each participant can receive individual instruction.
Prescription orthotics are available using the casting and foam impression techniques. They are custom made helping your feet move more efficiently and enhancing your natural movement. A variety of orthotic labs are used depending on your needs.
Counseling provides the opportunity to talk with a professionally trained counselor who is able to offer support, advice, and new and objective perspectives on your issues. Sessions will help you to clarify the problem, identify options open to you in the situation, work out what you hope to achieve and ways to achieve this goal, and provide support and advice as you work towards your goal.
Comprehensive testing is completed in the client's home to determine eligibility for the Assistive Devices Program including Wheelchairs, Power Chairs, Scooters and Walkers. Paperwork is completed to allow clients to access provincial funding for the above devices.
We will work with the employee, employer and WSIB to provide physiotherapy through the WSIB programs. Physical Demands Analysis and Ergonomic Assessments are also available to assist in improving workplace environment. Functional Abilities Form can quickly be completed to allow the best environment for the client to get better.
Our physiotherapists, social workers, massage therapist and rehab therapists have extensive training in neuro-rehabilitation for stroke, acquired brain injury, post concussion and spinal cord patients. We are able to work with Case Managers and other team members to provide comprehensive care to these complex clients.
